Your Klout score is inversely related to your productivity
I tend to use and interact on social networks (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc.) when I have time to. It’s not something that I am compelled to do everyday.
Klout, a service that measures your online influence, produces graphics (sorta like the one that you see here) about how you’re doing. Every time I get busy, put on my headphones, tune everything else out, and get some work done I am “rewarded” for my hard work by a lower score. I added the blue data points to illustrate how I feel about it.
Christopher St. John and I were just talking… there should be a series of these charts… stay tuned for an update (it’ll happen in my next fit of unproductive photoshopping)

I’ve been neglecting my site for quite some time. It doesn’t take a very close look to see that the content is terribly out of date (A link to my Brightkite profile? Really?). And while it garnered a fair share of admiration in the past and even publication in a couple design books, it’s time to freshen up the design, too.
I’ll be working on content first; trying to get into the swing of blogging again (it was a resolution last year, too). While I’m doing that I’ll be thinking about a better, more lively design.
Look out internet, I might actually do it.
(and if this blog post is the most recent post two months after the posted date I give you full permission to shame me into carving out more time to follow through with my plans)

It’s been more than a year since Cohabitat opened. I remember sitting at The Flying Saucer in Addison talking with Blake and Stormy about my experience with starting The Creative Space. Blake has done an awesome job creating a space and community for entrepreneurs to thrive. D CEO Magazine recently recognized Blake and Dave for their efforts. I’m glad to be a part of it. Congratulations, y’all.

Lately I have felt like an ass with some of the conversations I have been having. I keep shooting down good ideas. And they are good ideas, the problem is that they are off focus from the core idea.
I’m one of the organizers of The Big (D)esign Conference and it’s shaped up to be a magnificent conference. The list of speakers is phenomenal, we have wonderful sponsors, interest has been good, promotion has been strong, ticket sales are growing higher every day, and I think we have the best team ever putting the whole thing together. How this has anything to do with focusing on a core idea is this: Our team of wonderfully intelligent and creative people come up with a ton of good ideas — and we want to do them all.

This past weekend I traveled to Northern Virginia to visit my sister and attend Gold Cup 2009. Gold Cup is a steeplechase horse race (the kind of race with jumps) and is an absolute blast. Steve Berry, who is one of my favorite people in the world, invited us to his tent and we had a great time!
Actually, we started out the weekend on Thursday in Fredericksburg, VA when Steve and I went to meet my sister and her group at Kybecca Wine Bar. We ended up meeting a another group from Remax who are part of a group called WIRED (Women In Real Estate Daily). I joke a lot that if you want to meet someone, point me in their direction and I will introduce you. (more…)
