February 7th and 8th I was in Long Beach for the BIL Conference. If you’ve never heard of BIL, it’s a free, open event held alongside TED. If you’ve never heard of TED, it stands for “Technology, Entertainment, and Design,” is very exclusive, very expensive, and brings in some incredibly intelligent people. Anyway, BIL is to TED as BarCamp is to FooCamp. BIL is a chance for people to experience the same caliber of conversation and idea sharing at a fraction of the cost (actually that isn’t true - you can’t divide by zero). I’ve had an online presence of my own for nearly a decade. I’ve preached to my clients about fresh content and how it helps search engine rankings and keeps users coming back. Part of that preaching includes creating a blog and updating regularly with relevant content. The weird thing is, I never followed my own advice - I’ve always built myself static sites (the last one was a single page).
Well, here I am. Following my own advice. I have a blog and more than a single page of content. I still have an ego driven “about me” page, but I plan on blogging about all the things I talk about when I am at events or talking with friends and colleagues. I’ll cover a myriad of subjects (more…)
